Thanks for the comment. Its unusual a lake is choppy in the morning unless a storm is moving in, but then again Coeur d Alene's ecosystem can be unique from what I understand. I added a website people may be inerested in. It shows the lake temp updated several times throughout the day. Apparently its taken at the warmest part of the lake, righ were the swim start is. Hope its helpful

IronDad: I've done CDA twice and the lake was pretty chilly both times, but not unbearably so. I have a sleeveless wetsuit and I was cold but ok.
The water was choppy as hell the day BEFORE the race a few years back. I'm a decent swimmer and I was pretty damn happy it wasn't like that on race day - it would have been nasty. Of the two years I was there I only remember that one day being bad (and that's including in the days leading up to the race when we were in town) so hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. Just know that it CAN get super choppy! |

Kitten ... you swam in a LAKE today? You do realize that we were getting snow like two weeks ago right??

I had a proud day the other day when I chased down and passed a guy on his road bike while I was on my mnt bike and cotinued to pull away for the next 3/4 mile! IronDad lake cda can get a bit choppy at times but usually on real windy days...and if thats the case you will have a fun bike ride as well....fyi has been pretty windy the last week or so, that make my riding fun....walkstar out

#601 Stringbean Subject: Been there, done that, got the
I've competed in Cda twice and I live just a few hours east in NW Montana. The problem with Rocky Mountain weather is that it is very dynamic. Last year there were people skiing on some of the slopes around Cda just days before the race. Other years we have had three or four good forest fire ignitions days before the race. If early indicators continue, we warmed incredibly early this year. We have not however seen the snow pack start to melt yet. So anyway blah, blah, blah, I'm not even ready to make that prediction yet. I will keep you posted though. As for rough water it's not that bad. The river coming into the lake I think helps keep the swells from forming.

#600 IronDad Subject: Water Temp
OK, done numerous IM's and this June will be the first IMCDA. I understand the lake can be considerably cold in late June, and rumour has it, choppy to boot. Can anyone really give me a good synopsis of the typical water conditions?

I got a super "ball" growing in my belly - the kid is kicking up a storm - very cool feeling.
Goint to a SouperBowl Party tomorrow - everyone brings their best soup - prizes to be had. Couldn't care about the Steelers or the Cardinals, so I'm going for the Cardinals, what the hell - got to root for someone other than for a funny Pepsi ad right?? Everybody have fun watching the game tomorrow if that's your plan - be safe with all the drunko's after the game too!! |

#578 BOFF Subject: I WON ! !
On Sunday I donned the full Team in Training Orca Wetsuit over my pants and shirt (it was a really big one), Used Green pom poms as hair hanging out of my TnT hat,(Sorry DTK I now that is probably a faux pas) twirling purple and green beads and working the runway (they don't call me swizzle hips for nuthin'). I thought the other tri coach was going to pee himself he was laughing so hard.
So the question now is - will the people that I am training have any respect for anything I say - - probably not - - but then again I am used to that at my job:) So I won the TnT duffle bag -- WOO HOO |

#572 BOFF Subject: Some Porn Help
Gotcher attention eh?
Since we gots some professionals on this page I could use some help. The local Team in training manager may hve gone a bit nuts and has devised a kickoff for the spring that involves the coaches (I be one of them) to model TnT apparel as an introduction. To entice us to be animated, she is offering a TnT travel bag to the coach that gets the biggest response from the TnTers. I am supposed to model a full wetsuit. Any ideas to improve my chances on the catwalk? MY one idea was to place a large zuchini in the crotch, but my daughter will be there as she is going to do the Lake Placid Marathon for TnT. |

#571 Stringbean Subject: Ho Ho....Ho's? Where?
The Merriest of Christmas's from Stringbean and Cocaine. Hope Santa brought everything you wanted. I personally got a new beginning and I am very happy and blessed. As we sit on our couches this morning, sipping cocoa with Bailey's, tapping on a laptop, bluetooth stuck in your ear, and oh yea, that bike you're suppose to be riding(you know the one, sitting on a wind trainer, worth more than your neighbors car) let's remember just how lucky we are. To all my brothers and sisters who haven't got to come home yet and to all the ones who never will.......hooooooorahhhh and keep your frickin' head down dudes!!!!!!!!!

#570 Snow Subject: Tour of CO
Kitten - if you do the tour - you have to let me know!! Last year the Snowdude and I poured beers at the "expo" for Ride the Rockies. I think we got as drunk as the bikers/concert goers that night. It was a total blast! And you'd have access to a real bed if you were so inclined instead of camping. Keep me posted! The little snowflake will be here by then! You'd get to meet us all at once!!

Snow! That is SO fun! I can't wait for lil Snowflake to join the world! I am thinking of Bicycle Tour of Colorado this year. They Ova nite in the Butte!
TriCarlos- As you may have noticed this is not your average tri forum. You are more apt to read about the nice a$$ that was in front of you in spin class last night than cassettes and Kona. If you look at the top of this page you will see "forums" and you will see "chat." You are WAY more likely to get non-perverted answers to your quandaries if you re-post in the "Forum." Ova theah they like to talk about this kinda stuff. In the meantime, here on the Mt chat page you are welcomed by ALL T.I.T.S members (Troubled Ironman Triathlete Society) to join us BETWEEN training and worrying about qualifying times...and tell us all about your wife...is she hot? your girlfriend - is she hot? Your boyfriend? Is he hot? Your random hook-up last night - were they hot? What's your story? :) -DTK "Putting the "tit" in "Altitude" |

#566 Snow Subject: Welcome Tri
Aaahhh - a newbie with a question - I guess at least 7 smart-ass typical T.I.T.S remarks before he gets a good answer... including mine since I rode/ran on the old course and have no clue whatsoever about the new one. It's fun though - in the masochistic kinda way that an Ironman is fun. Good luck to you Tri - watch out for others shootin'. I'm partial to a Dirty Harry like 44, but that's just 'cause it's big and scary.
On a totally other topic - I'm finally starting to feel the little bugger do some Kung Fu in my belly. 20 weeks today and I'm starting to show pregnant, not just "thick". I would cheers you all with the beers, but since I can't drink, I'll sign off with a smile... Have a great weekend everyone! |

#565 BOFF Subject: TriCarlos
Welcome Tri. I am just a little north of you - Harrisburg PA.
Bike course is not at hilly as LP but more hilly than AZ. The cassette I like is AC/DC in my tape player I am old so I have a triple - Had to use it on the steep hill when My quads cramped. Guns are allowed so you can shoot for Kona - it is a long shot so a 30.06 should do well. I be the smartA$$ of PA Balding Old Fat Fart |
