Hi peeps from Allen of the arnge page.

Anyone here or lurking done IM Louisville? If it isn't full it means somethings difficult about it.

I figure it's the heat and no wetsuits. But I train in the heat most of the year.

The hills? Looks and is proclaimed rolly but nothing like Silverman.

IM serious about signing up so if anyone knows the skinny let me know.

Good afternoon, I am brand spanking new to doing ironman race but this is a event i am wanting and willing to do.
I have done research on the ironman sites and found a good bit of information but not the informatin i am needing. i am not asking for the answers but only links to where i can find the answers i am looking for.
Here are my question i need help on.

(btw i am starting off with the ironman sprint and will build my way up to a full iron man over a 2-5 year period)

- i need to know what bike types are approved for the ironman race. ( i have not found any information on the safty parts or type of bike that will be approved for this race.)

-what running shoes and what type of clothing is approved by ironman?

- i did find the swimsuits but what are good prices for a suit and what is the best place to buy one?

- i did not find a list of approved drugs and dis-approved drugs that can be takin. ( i am on a steriod for my asmtha so this is where i need a full list of medication that can not be takin as well over the over-the counter meds. like " hydroxcut, creatin, and certian vitimans. ect.ect")

- I do know that most of these question are newbie questions but i came at a stand still with little time to sign up for the sprint in texas.

-please reply back with no back-lash to my stupidity . i am only trying to get on the right direction.

thank you for your time and information.

Has anyone heard what happened with Racing Underground and the times for the 5340 Sprint. My time is not posted on the website and I am definitely not the only one. I heard the accuracy of this timing system was better than Champion but they never lost my time.embarrassment

What another amazing year! The people of CDA are so amazing...especially the Walker family. The whole town gets so freaking excited it is hard not to share in that excitement even through the nerves. It was a choppy swim, but I wore those sea sickness bracelets and it helped. The "new" bike course (diff from when I did this in 06) was much more difficult, but also way more beautiful. It is a fun course! The run was cold and rainy, but perfect for running. I really wanted a marathon PR with that weather, but my knees thought otherwise. razz (stick out tongue) I finished in 14:51 which is just over an hour CDA course PR for me. (My 1st CDa was 15:53.) 06 was much hotter, but 09 was windy with a harder bike so I think it was a wash. Love, love, love it. Cheers!

So my girlfriend's kid is in his first year of taekwondo. One day a few weeks ago he had a not so good day at school. We had the "you've got to reach down and pull it out" speech. When you're at mile 16 of a Ironman marathon and you just want to puke, sh!t, and die, you got to pull it out. When you are having a bad day at school, you got to pull it out. Today he took his first belt test. All this season he would do his basic forms watching his fellow students. He gets up to test today and watched his fellow student because he was afraid "I'll make a mistake". He dropped it. A few rounds later he was given the chance to retest. This time he had to do it on his own. No fellow student. Between students and parents, an audience of about 60. He nailed it and got the belt. Sorry, just had to share. Cheers!

Cda is not that high. Physiological response to altitude does obviously vary from person to person, but most people are good in a couple of days. If you're worried come on up and drink some beer......I mean train.

Congratulations Dave Walker(Walkstar and CF's dad) on volunteer of the year. If you've never met any of the Walker family you are really missing out. Dave and his family are an example of why I think Cda is one of the greatest places on this rock. You will not find people more proud of their community or more involved in it. I am very honored to call them all friends and I applaud Ironman for a very well deserved recognition.

No problem leaving it up. Just don't want to waste the time, space and bandwidth (although not much used with so little activity)if no one cares. If even two people want it up, then it stays up, provided one of those two people has a really nice rack.

Ok I promised I would come on closer to the race and give my .02 on water. My girlfriend and I just spent the weekend in Cda. The water was not what I would call "nice" but it wasn't shocking. The next week is predicted to be in the 80's and the long range forecast(next twenty days or so) is hot and dry. Do not take my prediction as the word of God, but I think it will be fine. Remember though folks, this race is in the Northern Rockies. Fine to us is 58-62 degrees F.

Please DO NOT kill this page. It's been such a wonderful place for us to be "ourselves", be serious and give advice, and to share the everyday events of our lives.

Kirk- You HAVE to leave the site up! No joke, some of my husband's and my closest racing friends were met on here. FB is WAY too PC!! We can't be "ourselves" there and talk about the fine racks and awesome behinds we find in spin class! And I am a slowtwitch hold-out. I just refuse. I peeked at it about 3 times and every time there seems to be more and more tri-whining. Here we can just be us. :) And I like that I don't feel obligated to post profile pics and have logins and all that crap. Just my .02. I like the simple style. cool
