Is anyone else having trouble regarding On Site Registration completion - it will not let me go to step 3 saying I have an incorrect password. I have contacted Active.com - they are aware of the problem but that was on Monday. Is it still a problem?

What another amazing year! The people of CDA are so amazing...especially the Walker family. The whole town gets so freaking excited it is hard not to share in that excitement even through the nerves. It was a choppy swim, but I wore those sea sickness bracelets and it helped. The "new" bike course (diff from when I did this in 06) was much more difficult, but also way more beautiful. It is a fun course! The run was cold and rainy, but perfect for running. I really wanted a marathon PR with that weather, but my knees thought otherwise.

#643 Stringbean Subject: Iron Discipline
So my girlfriend's kid is in his first year of taekwondo. One day a few weeks ago he had a not so good day at school. We had the "you've got to reach down and pull it out" speech. When you're at mile 16 of a Ironman marathon and you just want to puke, sh!t, and die, you got to pull it out. When you are having a bad day at school, you got to pull it out. Today he took his first belt test. All this season he would do his basic forms watching his fellow students. He gets up to test today and watched his fellow student because he was afraid "I'll make a mistake". He dropped it. A few rounds later he was given the chance to retest. This time he had to do it on his own. No fellow student. Between students and parents, an audience of about 60. He nailed it and got the belt. Sorry, just had to share.

#642 Stringbean Subject: Altitude
Cda is not that high. Physiological response to altitude does obviously vary from person to person, but most people are good in a couple of days. If you're worried come on up and drink some beer......I mean train.

LOL
That is not very encouraging!!! LOL...I have a buddy that went up there this week for vacation. He said he couldn't walk for 45 min without feeling like he needed oxygen tank! LOL....we are from arkansas and will be traveling up there for the race...how many days will it take us to get used to the atmosphere up there??? |
|
#640 Stringbean Subject: CONGRATS DAVE!!!!!
Congratulations Dave Walker(Walkstar and CF's dad) on volunteer of the year. If you've never met any of the Walker family you are really missing out. Dave and his family are an example of why I think Cda is one of the greatest places on this rock. You will not find people more proud of their community or more involved in it. I am very honored to call them all friends and I applaud Ironman for a very well deserved recognition.

OMG Snow congrats!! ...and this is strange as I was JUST thinking about you today and wondering if you were a mom yet. That is my plan this fall. I am going to at least have fun trying. For now...I get to be a bib number next Sunday back in the great state of Idaho. Can't believe it has been 3 yrs since my 1st IM there. But I really worry about my sanity when I realize it has been 3 years since IM #1...but this weekend it will be IM #6.

SO glad to hear the water is warming. It hasn't been uber warm here either and our h2o had been high 50s low 60s too. That is fine by me. |

Kirk: Kitten has a very fine rack. I get to see them once a week . the colder the water in the lake, the perkier they are. One of these days she is going to poke someones eyes out.. Word. Back to face book for me.

No problem leaving it up. Just don't want to waste the time, space and bandwidth (although not much used with so little activity)if no one cares. If even two people want it up, then it stays up, provided one of those two people has a really nice rack.

#619 Stringbean Subject: As I Promised
Ok I promised I would come on closer to the race and give my .02 on water. My girlfriend and I just spent the weekend in Cda. The water was not what I would call "nice" but it wasn't shocking. The next week is predicted to be in the 80's and the long range forecast(next twenty days or so) is hot and dry. Do not take my prediction as the word of God, but I think it will be fine. Remember though folks, this race is in the Northern Rockies. Fine to us is 58-62 degrees F.
ATTN: KIRK Please DO NOT kill this page. It's been such a wonderful place for us to be "ourselves", be serious and give advice, and to share the everyday events of our lives. AND FINALLY, I PASSED THE WRITTEN PORTION OF MY NATIONAL REGISTRY EXAMS FOR PARAMEDICINE!!!! |
|
#618 denvertrikitten
Kirk- You HAVE to leave the site up! No joke, some of my husband's and my closest racing friends were met on here. FB is WAY too PC!! We can't be "ourselves" there and talk about the fine racks and awesome behinds we find in spin class! And I am a slowtwitch hold-out. I just refuse. I peeked at it about 3 times and every time there seems to be more and more tri-whining. Here we can just be us. :) And I like that I don't feel obligated to post profile pics and have logins and all that crap. Just my .02. I like the simple style.

Kirk, as it is true that most have gone to facebook? We still need this site to play in.
At least I do, even though i haven't been doing it enough of late because I've been so busy with my facebook friends. Seriously I think you do us all a great service keeping these forums up for any and all newcommers, plus old favorites looking for information posting workouts or reports or just having fun on the chat sites. Thanks for doing a great job on your site. It would be a shame to pull the plug. ¯\(©¿©)/¯ Where would i go and dance??? ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ You can't dance on facebook!! ♪♫•*¨*•.¸¸❤¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪ |

#615 denvertrikitten
Bean!! No, we don't have a life, I just think most of us have met up on facebook and give each other hell on there now. We are all so 2009. Not like the olden days of CDA 06. ha ha Problem with fb though is we can't be all perverted and stuff. Not with co-workers and family on there. DTD and I will be there in CDA!

Thanks for the comment. Its unusual a lake is choppy in the morning unless a storm is moving in, but then again Coeur d Alene's ecosystem can be unique from what I understand. I added a website people may be inerested in. It shows the lake temp updated several times throughout the day. Apparently its taken at the warmest part of the lake, righ were the swim start is. Hope its helpful

#608 jdz
IronDad: I've done CDA twice and the lake was pretty chilly both times, but not unbearably so. I have a sleeveless wetsuit and I was cold but ok.
The water was choppy as hell the day BEFORE the race a few years back. I'm a decent swimmer and I was pretty damn happy it wasn't like that on race day - it would have been nasty. Of the two years I was there I only remember that one day being bad (and that's including in the days leading up to the race when we were in town) so hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. Just know that it CAN get super choppy! |
|
#607 jdz
