Saturday will be a day of volleying fthe sprint races, followed by a BBQ and camfire later that evening with friends, then a few hours of sleep before getting up early for my half Ironman race Sunday. Willem, we get occational mild ones that no one really feels. but todays was a 5.0 which is big for this region. We have some fault lines that run from Quebec down the est coast and under the great lakes.

Josef seems like you had a fun day running this race . Joan van Hilten is she Dutch from origin confused
I spent the weekend in the south part of our country , were it is hilly. Today
they had the dutch championships long course 3 k swimming , 110 bike and 30k
run , a lot of my tri friends raced there and i went to watch.
And there was another reason , i traded in my car for a new one , i was told that i would arrive next week ,my gas tank was completely full so i decided to make the trip and to use up the gas.
Tomorrow a little longer run , i will try to do 30 minutes .
Have a great week , i hope it will warm up , this weekend only 12 celsius, that is about 55

Good morning wavey

Mitch, Way to hang in, congrats on your podium finish! Cheers!

I entered on the spur of a momment ultra race yesterday, I went to the Niagaga Ultra 50, I only did the half mary with my friend who asked me to go out with in in support of our running club members who were doing the 50k race and marathon. My firend and I entered the half marathon since they had same day entree still open. My friend won our agagroup with a 1:40 and came in 8 overall in the half, I finished with a 2:42 and wasn't last! Finishing 26 out of 30 I think? razz (stick out tongue) We had fun running along the Niagara river along some beautiful paved paths with only the start and finish being on grass. The rest of our group did well and all how started the 50k finished with great times with the last two woman in our group finishing together around 7:30 with beer in hand!( one of our group handed her a well deserved beer before the finish line. we all had a great time after the race some puking for the heat of the day, but quickly recovered with free beers being served as well as pizza snacks and regular drinks . It was a fun day. I can see now how fun Ultras are now. Maybe I'll tray a 50 k one day? roll eyes (sarcastic)

Have a great Fathers day! Cheers!

In post #4037, I told everyone about IM Japan being cancelled, and that Kelly and I were going to Japan anyway…..we’ll that got altered when United Airlines wanted another $5,200 to change our tickets. (The $5,200 is ON TOP OF the $4,400 we had ALREADY paid.) So we made the tough call, and DIDN’T go at all.

One of the biggest heartaches was NOT being able to see our Granddaughter (Kyra) in Japan. But Uncle Sam is gonna help us out on that issue, since he’s sending our daughter to Iraq for 4 months, and we get to take care of Kyra for those months!!

But back to the IM Japan fiasco – The IM Corporation has allowed IM Japan non-participants to enter IM Coeur d’Alene (in 10 days) or IM Louisville (end of August). CdA was my first IM in 2007, and my family still lives there, so guess where I’m headed next Wednesday? Gonna surprise EVERYONE (except you guys) and just show up at my brother’s work. (This will be his 6th CdA!)

Standby for a Race Report on the 29th.
Cheers!

Good morning everyone wavey

josef - best wishes to you and your family, thoughts and paryers are with you buddy.

Well - left for Ft Lauderdale 21 May, on the Oasis of the Seas and cruising on the 22nd with 10 family and friends. Nassau on the 23rd, so far so good.... on our transit from Nassau to St Thomas in the afternoon Captain annonces that a crew member had jumped over side and we were turning around for search and resuce operations with Coast Guard. Long story short, he then announces at 2220 that night that Coast Guard has not released us from rescue operations and we are not going to St Thomas #@*%! where we had been working with our wedding planner for a year, licenses done, etc., so .... Paula and I could not get married. Needless to say we were in disbelief after planning everything for so long. What can you say? There were 6 couples total on the ship that were affected/had plans ruined. Anyway, we are working on plan B now and looking at an October wedding now. I'll keep everyone posted.

Off to the pool.

Cheers - Mitch

Willem, thanks, I'm happy I was able to see him Sunday. I think he had a good life considering the last 25years he has been dealing with emphizema(sp) By trade he was a lisenced blacksmith, but when he came to Canada he got his electrical, plumbing licences and was a maintenace mechanic. I learded a lot of my handyman stuff from him. Matter of fact I ended up with most of his tools. big grin ...My grandpa was 80, although he wasn't my blood grandfather( he was Grandmas 3rd husband, She married him when she imagrated to Canada in early 60's) But he was the only Grandfather I knew growing up, as my dads parents stayed and lived in Europe. He is at peace and is happy to be with grandma now. big grin
