"Hurricane Earl's southwestern eyewall moved directly over Buoy #41046 overnight, causing the buoy to read 48.6-foot waves (before stopping reporting*) and wind gusts to 101 mph. Winds calmed considerably and the pressure dropped to 27.82" (942 mb) as the edge of the eye moved over the buoy briefly."

Everyone must be out training now that the oil well is capped and it looks like IMFL is a go.

I am not in for this year, but may sign up for next. Who else is interested?

Willem...congrats on what sounds like a wonderful vacation...

BT....well.....I had dinner friday night with a ole friend from the local running club, they are just getting back in training and was signed up for a local 5k sat morning and begged me to walk it with her. Since I can respect how hard/humbling it is to start over, and ask for help, I joined her and we walked the 5k (49minutes) she was so happy to be back in training, and her smile was worth the sacrifice.

Then I went home and did a 70 mile solo ride, not what I had originally wanted but, was happy to get off the bike after 70 miles. My biking pal understood, and we will try to do the 102 mile ride again in a few weeks. He did ride sat, but hasn't returned my call, so not sure how far he went.

hope everyone had a great weekend. (BT, very nice of you to ask, hugs....)

cool i am back from a very good 10 days holiday in Austria, we had excellent weather, we did a lot of hiking in the mountains and also a bit of biking. We stayed at a very nice family owned hotel and met some great
people.
Now back to training , my achilles is still hurting , so i will have to start easy , i have a olympic distance race on my home town next saterday , so i will have to be ready

I tried out my new car , in Germany no speed limits , so you can check out how fast it will go. That was cool cool

Hey all...

Lanceman, hey buddy, still leaning toward disney strongly, haven't had time to sign up yet, but still plan to.

I'm doing a 102 mile bike starting at 6:10 tomorrow, me and buddy, he (tech geek) already got it mapped out on google earth, mapquest (or one of those sites). ALready bought some epson salt, so can soak in hot tub of water upon returning tomorrow. (best trick for getting over soarness I've learned since starting this)

hope this finds all doing well

decided to not go to upcoming 25th class reunion, though knowing it was coming was motivation I needed to finally start getting back in shape, and I appreciate that. Still under 200 lbs and feel so much better. Facebook has filled my need for social so class reunion not so appealing anymore.

Just wiped bike down, made it all pretty, gonna be out there along time tomorrow, if I can't be fast, then wanna look good as I go by slowly.....ha ha

have a great weekend all....

Hey peeps! Jeepers, been off the page for awhile, traveling a lot for work.. training has been ok, and finally starting to run again. Yea!

Was in San Diego last week for a conference, swam at UCSD masters one morning. I'm usually in the fast lane for workouts...hah! There, I was in the medium lane... good perspective in the birthplace of triahtlon!
Rode 3 hrs today, 1 hr in the warm rain, not too bad! Starting my early training cycles for IM Brazil in May!

Hope everyoneis doing well- congrats Willem on your anniversary- keep up the good work, r- love to see you at Dis in Jan!

Sunday, August 8, 2010 12:49 PM Host: ip565ab908.direct-adsl.nl

Today i did another half (?) ironman
distances swim 2.5 k, bike 78k , run 22k.
The race was in Leiderdorp that is about
35 miles from my home.Yesterday it rained all afternoon and evening, i woke
up several times and it was raining all time.
When the alarm went off 05.45 the rain had stopped and it stayed dry for the rest of the day.
At 08.30 i started my 2.5 k swim with about 150 other triathletes, the swim was 2 laps in a canal. I started easy and picked up my page and finished in 55 minutes , slower than i expected but
everyone was slow ( maye a longer swim)
I completely messed up my bike ( 4 laps)
i had to pee 3 times, had to stop twice
for cars blocking the road, was bothered
by a dog on the loose, and had to lower
my speed several times to paas sunday
bikers. Very bad road conditions on the bike, anyway i messed up with a 30k average, The run also had 4 laps, in the first lap i was bothered with bad pain in the right achilles, a little
better in the following 3 laps , bringing me to the finish line in 6.02.20. I was the last athlete finishing and the oldest.
This is was is happening in our country , only fast athletes show up at
these races , so allways as a older triathlete you will end up at the back
of the pack. confused frown

Anyhow , another race done, next one a
olympic distance in 2 weeks

have fun Cheers!

yes josef my swim improved, you must know i swim this year at least 3 times per week and these sessions are all 75 min. We are swimming on a schedule of one off my triathlon friends, we are usually with 4 people in a alne . a swim
with a lady , she has the same pace as me.
Like today we did as main set
2 x : 4 x50m in 56 sec, 3 x 100 in 1.56
10 x 25m in 27 sec and 1 x 300 in .5.45

It is fun swimming these sets.

Sunday, July 25, 2010 05:47 PM Host: ip565ab908.direct-adsl.nl

Today i went to Antwerp for a 70.3 race.
I had my doubts this was my first long race after my trombosis problems and only back in running for 4 weeks after
3 monyhs of not running. We had perfect weather, not to warm , light wind , little bit of rain. I started with a easy swim and did the 1.9 k in 38 min
without pushing myself to the limit.
I started the bike part easy until I caught up the leading man of my age group ( 65-69) after 40 k, i saw that
he was not riding that fast , and decided to speed things to have a nice gap for the run. The first 2 laps of the run were great , but i got into trouble starting the final lap, luckily
a had put enough time between me and nr 2 to ease through he final lap, amd so much to my suprise i won my age group in 6.02.37 big grin I took the Clearwater slot, so i will be racing Miami 70.3 and Clearwater World Chapionship in a nice 3 weeks vacation smile smile

R, welcome back. wavey Glad your finding the right path to follow and decided it's time to do things that make you happy. Congrats on the weight loss. you can do it R! Find your inner strenght and you will one day become an Ironman, I know you can do it. Happy training buddy, I've been meaning to e-mail you, i will when I get some time. Take care. Cheers!

reason, for coming back to page is 2 fold. Had promised myself that wasn't gonna sign up for any events until got weight below 195 lbs, and maintained it for 2 weeks.

today will start looking for winter marathon as first race, Disney in january a big possibility if entry still available.

Second, promised BT, that would be proud to buy her dinner (as friend) if/ when I broke 200lbs. Offer still good, not sure when, but is definately on the to do list for 2010 if she is willing.

Not gonna go back to read previous post, will start here, and try to keep up moving forward, not daily, but few times a week.

Hope this finds all doing well, both posters and lurkers alike.
