Windjunkee,
You are correct my friend, he definately fell well short of the bar set by Dave Zabriske when it came to the race of truth, that being said, what an impressive run of four wins for four stages started, regardless of the advantages of drafting and sitting in the peleton.
I wish I could go downtown on Sunday, I'd love to ride that course without traffic and would consider the trip just for that but alas, UltraIronRunnerGirl is sherpa'ing and on course cheering for a friend at the OC Tri on Sunday and my cousin is getting married tomorrow night in Canyon Lake so it is not going to work out.
I just heard an interview on the radio with someone from Staples Center talking about the logistics that will go into hosting a possible Western Region Championship Final clinching Hockey Game during the Amgen Tour of Cali activity and followed by a Basketball Playoff game. From what I gathered, if there isn't any overtime in the Kings game and the Kings lose they should be able to pull it off without a hitch, but an overtime and / or clinch by the Kings and the Basketball game will probably start late.
Fortunately, cycling and hockey fans aren't likely to riot the way football(soccer) fans and basketball fans do so we probably don't have to worry too much about burning LAPD cars being overturned and blocking traffic at LA Live the way we would if it was a Lakers or Galaxy final happening in downtown.

| HAWAII |
From: kaspersky March 12, 2012 at 12:04:00 PM
MILFORD — Erin Stephens’ passion for volunteering has taken her from the halls of Milford High School to the beaches of Hawaii. The 22-year-old AmeriCorps member is spending a year with Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii and hopes to raise $70,300 — almost enough money to build a home — by competing in the Ironman 70.3 Hawaii Triathlon. “Everyone deserves a special place in this world, a home base to go to,” Stephens said. “The idea of housing a family is one of the most important things in the world.” Stephens launched her fundraising campaign last month and will be raising money for Habitat for Humanity until the June 2 race. The triathlon includes a 1.2-mile swim in the Pacific Ocean, a 56-mile bike ride through lava fields on the Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway and a 13.1-mile run along the coast. “I come from a background in marathon running,” said Stephens, who has completed the Boston Marathon. “This is a way for me to combine my passions.” Stephens has raised $1,500 so far and is reaching out to communities at Boston University where she received a degree in hospitality administration in 2011, and Milford, which she said inspired her to pursue service. The 2007 Milford High School graduate said she was in need of community service hours to join the National Honor Society when she fell in love with giving back. In Milford, she helped run youth track meets, delivered meals to seniors and sold Christmas trees for My One Wish Foundation. “She really just liked to help out,” said her father, Mark Stephens, of Milford. “At the same time she has this great athletic drive. Finding her in a situation where she’s combining the two is no surprise to me.” All the money she raises will support Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii’s Blitz Build, where the nonprofit organization hopes to build five houses in Kona in a 10-day span in September. Each home costs $85,000 to build, said Isobel Donovan, resource development director for the organization. “A lot of people think that Hawaii is living in paradise and yet we have a huge need for affordable housing,” Donovan said. One in 15 people live below the poverty line and utility costs are three times higher than in the continental United States, she said. Stephens said she trains for the triathlon three to four hours per day, six days per week. She said training for the triathlon is easier than preparing for the Boston Marathon because the weather in Hawaii is almost always 78 to 82 degrees and sunny, allowing her to train in the same conditions she will experience during the race. Stephens, whose year of service ends in September, said she is considering performing another year with AmeriCorps. “I’ve just wanted to make it the norm for young people,” she said of volunteering. “We’re in that position to give back. People always say ‘Why?’ and I just say ‘Why not?’”

Have you ever heard of the `American way to die’? If not, go through the book Reversing Heart Diseases, which is written by American cardiologist Julian Whitaker. He says that millions of Americans die every year due to uncontrolled diet, lack of exercise and injurious habits like smoking. All these bad lifestyle practices generate high blood pressure and high cholesterol which normally the body is unable to withstand. The observations of Julian Whitaker, (though he mainly speaks about the American lifestyle and diseases), is very relevant in the Indian context too. Just have a look into your own lifestyle. Have you ever done anything to control your diet and thus prevent the diseases? If your answer is in the negative, then it is high time that you changed your lifestyle practices. A recent study shows that youngsters in the metros in India are more prone to health disorders than those in the rural areas, thanks to their habit of eating junk food and other bad lifestyle practices. All these trends reassert the significance of Ayurveda as an efficient healthcare system as it not only focuses on medication, but on diet, physical exercise like yogas and puts forward a distinctive lifestyle itself. The youngsters have already understood this fact and it is indicated by the growing number of people approaching ayurvedic resorts or hospitals in search of advice/therapies.
